Rhodes Enters Race for NC Lieutenant Governor

Phillip Rhodes announces his bid for Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina as the Libertarian Party candidate, and condemns Eminent Domain plan by the City of Raleigh.

Chapel Hill, NC, July 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Phillip Rhodes announced his entry into the race for North Carolina Lieutenant Governor today, condemning plans by the city of Raleigh to exercise eminent domain to seize a piece of privately owned property.

"Property rights are one of my top campaign issues, and I'm pledging to fight tooth and nail to protect the rights of the residents of North Carolina to maintain control and ownership of their own property," he said. "Libertarians are well known as defenders of property rights, and I'll certainly continue in that tradition when elected to represent the people of North Carolina."

Rhodes holds the position, as articulated by Frederic Bastiat, that government exists only for the purpose of protecting our rights. "I find it unconscionable for a government body to not only fail to protect our rights, but to actively violate them," he said.

Rhodes, a lifelong resident of North Carolina was born in Wilmington and grew up between Shallotte and Holden Beach in Brunswick County. He holds degrees from Brunswick Community College and Wake Technical Community College and attended UNC-Wilmington. Rhodes works as a software engineer for a firm in Morrisville, NC.
