Dr. J. Kip Matthews Honored by State Professional Association

Athens, GA, July 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Dr. J. Kip Matthews, a licensed psychologist in Athens, GA was recently named a Fellow in the Georgia Psychological Association, the organization’s highest honor. Recognition as a Fellow attests to the “nominee’s noteworthy service to Psychology, service to the public, professional stature, or scholastic, academic and research stature…attained over a period of time.” He is the co-founder of the Athens-based AK Counseling & Consulting, Inc., a private practice providing psychological counseling and business consulting services, as well as continuing education programs for healthcare professionals.

Dr. Matthews is active in a number of national, regional, and local professional organizations. He is a Past President of the Athens Area Psychological Association and has been heavily involved in the new public education campaign focused on mind-body health sponsored by American Psychological Association and the Georgia Psychological Association.

In his professional work, he presents numerous workshops on a variety of topics such as postpartum depression, exercise and mental health, career and life planning, and relationship concerns among others.

Dr. Kip Matthews specializes in performance enhancement of athletes, musicians/dancers, and business executives. Whether it is on the playing field, concert hall, or boardroom, he enjoys helping individuals and organizations achieve their performance goals.

Dr. Matthews earned his Ph.D. degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee and is currently credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
