Optaros Creates Innovative Open Source User Interface Framework for Enhanced Alfresco Deployments

Optaros Inc. today announced the launch of DoCASU 1.0, a user interface framework for Alfresco deployments as an open source project.

Boston, MA, July 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Optaros Inc., assemblers of Next Generation Internet applications, today announced the launch of DoCASU 1.0, a user interface framework for Alfresco deployments as an open source project. The project will drive open source adoption rates and help users assimilate Alfresco’s enterprise content management systems.

As a platinum partner of Alfresco, Optaros has successfully deployed numerous content management systems for clients, realizing a common need to create a customized user experience. DoCASU 1.0 leverages the understanding gained from corporate user requirements and utilizes Rich Internet Application technologies such as the ExtJS AJAX framework. DoCASU 1.0 is not intended to replace the already existing Alfresco web user interface, but rather offer an alternative for users who require a limited set of features and profit from simplicity and ease of use. Thousands of users are employing DoCASU at NXP, a top ten semiconductor company founded by Philips, and see the benefits of the user centric solution.

“With DoCASU 1.0, Alfresco users have a simplified solution to capitalize on the gains that the system is known for,” said Bruno von Rotz, VP for Strategy and Research at Optaros. “In the true essence of open source, we provide Alfresco users with the ease of building user specific interfaces on top of the new Alfresco Web Scripts, meanwhile granting the ability to extend and develop to fit specific needs. We are leveraging DoCASU 1.0 on our own Alfresco deployment and are already experiencing a lot of client interest in this component.”

DoCASU 1.0 is available as open source under GPL v3 and can be downloaded at http://code.optaros.com/trac/docasu/wiki/Downloads. The solution currently offers the typical features that document management users regularly need. Additional key features expected soon include a “drop zone” for dragging and dropping files onto the desktop, tabbed navigation, configurable skins, usability improvements and more.
