Punchcut® Appoints Gabriel White as Director of Interaction Design

San Francisco, CA, July 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Punchcut, the leading user interface design and development company, has appointed Gabriel White as Interaction Design Director. In his new role, White will lead interaction design teams in generating innovative user interface experiences for Punchcut’s industry-leading clients.

"Gabe joins the company at a time when we are taking our deep mobile UI experience and translating it for the expanding convergent and cross-channel opportunities in front of us,” said Ken Olewiler, Managing Director. “Gabe's role is integral in shaping the interaction design team to meet that challenge."

White will be responsible for overseeing and strategizing with design teams as they collaborate on Punchcut projects. As an experienced thought leader, he will guide teams in developing UI solutions to enhance the mobile user experience. White is committed to developing relevant products and services that contribute meaningfully to people’s lives. “I continually ask myself,” says White, “what is the real value for the people in the mobile experiences we are creating? With this world of possibilities, how do we create devices and services that have real meaning?” White will also play an instrumental part in shaping Punchcut’s usability research and convergent, cross-channel services.

White comes to Punchcut with over ten years of experience in user interface design. He has held positions as Principal Designer for frog Design and Interaction Design Lead for Motorola China. As a mobile UI design expert, he brings with him a rich design background and broad experiences working with emerging markets all over the world. He worked in Microsoft's research lab in Beijing and prior to that was a senior consultant for a UI design consultancy in Australia. His extensive portfolio includes the development of an award-winning phone designed for non-literate people in developing countries. White also authors his popular mobile interaction design blog, Small Surfaces, which covers topics in interaction design, UI design, user experience and mobile trends, and usability.

"Gabe is a remarkable addition to our design practice and to the leadership team," said Jared Benson, Executive Creative Director. "His interaction design experience and his grasp of current and emerging mobility issues brings invaluable experience to our clients and to our teams."

“The opportunity to become involved in creative leadership at Punchcut really appealed to me,” said White. “What I like about Punchcut is that there are designers from top to bottom. There are no egos here. Just a bunch of smart, passionate people working together to create great things.”
