Crossroads of Michigan Hosts Detroit’s First Coldest Night of the Year Walk/Run

On Friday, February 28, 2026, Crossroads of Michigan will bring Coldest Night of the Year to Detroit for the first time with a 2K or 5K walk/run at Chandler Park beginning at 4:00 PM. The event invites individuals, families, teams, and volunteers to walk in solidarity with neighbors facing homelessness and poverty while raising funds for meals, crisis navigation, and pathways to stability.

Detroit, MI, February 04, 2026 --(PR.com)-- For the first time ever, Crossroads of Michigan will host Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) in the City of Detroit on Friday, February 28, 2026, at 4:00 PM. This family-friendly winter walk/run will take place at Chandler Park and invites the Detroit community to come together to raise funds and awareness for neighbors experiencing hunger, hurt, and homelessness.

Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide movement held in more than 300 cities and towns across North America. On one winter evening, tens of thousands of participants brave the cold together, raising millions of dollars for local charities that provide food, shelter, and critical support services. This marks the first time Detroit has hosted a Coldest Night of the Year event, making it a milestone moment for the city.

Crossroads of Michigan walk will begin and end at Chandler Park, Detroit, with participants choosing either a 2-kilometer or a 5-kilometer walk or run. Walkers and runners will enjoy rest stops with warm refreshments and a celebratory finish. Fundraisers who raise $150 (adults) or $75 (youth) will earn the iconic Coldest Night of the Year winter toque.

“We are honored and excited to bring Coldest Night of the Year to Detroit for the very first time,” said Dr. Joseph Daniel-Hoste, Executive Director of Crossroads of Michigan. “This event brings the community together to highlight the struggle of those less fortunate within our community. Together, our efforts support the essential services Crossroads provides to help individuals and families move toward stability. It may be cold outside, but collective action creates real change.”

Registration is now open. Participants can start a team, join a team, volunteer, sponsor the event, or walk remotely if they are unable to attend in person.
