USafricare Orgainzes an African Youth Workshop on AIDS

USafricare has successfully completed a broad "HIV Counsellors Workshop" partnering with youth organizations in sub-Sahara Africa. The workshop was tailored to educate and train youth counsellors and advocates on the fight against AIDS.

Johannesburg, South Africa, July 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- USafricare has completed a vigorous counsellor training program to help train health workers, medical and nursing students in targeted communities in sub-Sahara Africa. The training was conducted by USafricare in partnership with ANUNSA, a United Nations orgainzation for African youth. The program's objective is to train youth volunteers on HIV/AIDS. The trainees will serve as counsellors and public advocates to increase the distribution of information to rural and urban communities in Nigeria, Cameroun, Togo and other sub-Sahara African countreis where there is a severe lack of manpower and informational tools in the fight against AIDS.

This workshop was marked with public rally and demonstrations as well as public lecture to propagate the message.

The accomplishment of this workshop has helped to train over 700 students in different institutions, including nursing and medical students to be more effective and capable counsellors as well as volunteers and grass-roots advocates in the fight against AIDS.
