Clinton, NJ, July 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Pohatcong resident, Anju D. Jessani, and founder of Divorce with Dignity Mediation Services, has been recognized by NJ Biz, a leading source of business news, as one of New Jersey’s Top 20 Family/Divorce Mediators in their 2008 survey of the mediation community. Jessani, who has offices in downtown Clinton at 42 Main Street, and in downtown Hoboken, at 223 Bloomfield Street, established her mediation practice in 1997, and has successfully mediated over 500 divorces in her eleven years of practice. She credits her success as a mediator to treating every client as if they were her only client.

Mediation is a court-approved process in which a trained neutral person, called a mediator, encourages and facilitates the resolution of a dispute between two or more parties. In divorce mediation, the mediator works with the couple to clients identify all issues that need to be addressed including parenting time, child and spousal support, equitable distribution of assets, allocation of tax benefits, wills, and religious issues. At the end of the mediation, the mediator prepares a Memorandum of Understanding that summarizes the agreements reached in the mediation. Clients are advised to retain separate attorneys to review this agreement, and to assist them in completing the legal paperwork to obtain their divorce.

According to Jessani, “separating couples who successfully mediate, spare themselves and their families the bitter courtroom battles that characterize an adversarial divorce. When parents cooperate to settle their differences, some of the painful feelings of anger and helplessness that children often experience, are relieved.” In addition to the emotional savings, there is also a cost savings associated with divorce mediation. Typically, the cost of a mediated divorce, including attorneys’ fees, is about one-third the cost of a traditional divorce.

Jessani is a graduate of Douglass College/Rutgers University, and received her MBA from the Wharton School/University of Pennsylvania. Her interest in mediation arose from her own divorce through mediation. Prior to her career in mediation, she was a Vice President with JP Morgan. She is an Accredited Professional Mediator with the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, and is also an Advanced Practitioner with the Association for Conflict Resolution, reflecting her high level of training and experience in the field of mediation.

In addition to operating her private mediation practice, Jessani provides mediation services as a New Jersey court-approved mediator for both family/divorce and civil/business cases. She serves as Immediate Past- President for the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, the state’s largest mediation association with nearly 400 members, having served as President from 10/1/05-9/30/07. She also serves on the board of directors for the 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, Safe Harbor Child Access Centers, and on the University of Pennsylvania’s Secondary School Committee.
