Sold-Out Book Launch Brings Women Together Around Menopause, ADHD and Neurodivergence

Dr. Helen Wall’s new book, Menopause and ADHD: How to Navigate Hormone Flux and Neurodivergence, was launched to a full house at Book, Bean and Ice Cream in Kirkham, Preston. An afternoon that moved many attendees to tears and sparked honest, overdue conversations about women’s health.

Preston, United Kingdom, September 04, 2026 --(PR.com)-- The launch event, held on 17 May at the independent bookshop and café in Kirkham, sold out in advance and drew women with lived experience of the challenges surrounding hormones, menopause, ADHD and neurodivergence. Guests received a copy of the book and light refreshments before Dr Wall spoke about the personal and professional journey behind it, read from the text, and shared powerful responses from women who told her they finally felt seen, understood and believed.

The afternoon became a space for candid discussion and emotional connection, with many women speaking openly about the difficulties they have faced accessing support from their GPs for issues at the intersection of hormonal change and neurodivergence, a combination that remains poorly understood and inconsistently recognised in clinical practice.

Elaine Silverwood, owner of Book, Bean & Ice Cream said, “To see so many women come together in such an open and honest way was incredibly powerful. Helen’s message is clearly resonating because people are living through experiences that are still not widely understood or properly recognised. It was a privilege to host such an important conversation, and we are very proud to have been part of an afternoon that meant so much to everyone in the room.”

The event underlined the growing demand for better understanding of how hormonal changes affect neurodivergent women, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. Attendees left feeling validated and encouraged, many describing it as the first time they had heard their own experiences reflected back to them in a public setting.

Dr. Helen Wall, GP and author said, “To stand in a room filled with so many incredible women, hearing stories shared with such honesty, courage and hope, was something I will never forget. There was a real sense of connection, strength and belief in a better future. I am deeply grateful to everyone who came, and to Elaine and Clair at Book, Bean & Ice Cream and Linda Mulvey from Web HD for making the afternoon everything it was.”

Following the success of the launch, Dr Wall is continuing to widen the conversation. An audiobook edition of Menopause and ADHD: How to Navigate Hormone Flux and Neurodivergence was released on 25 June, making the book more accessible to a wider audience. A new podcast focused on women’s health, hormones, neurodivergence and the lived experiences too often overlooked is also in development.
