Mountain Environmental Expands Its High-Barrier Bagasse Laminated Tray Range for Low-Plastic Food Packaging Compliance
Mountain Environmental has expanded its high-barrier bagasse laminated tray range. The trays are engineered so that the functional barrier stays below 5% of total product weight, which supports compliance with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, and the range has achieved SGS ND-level results with total fluorine below 10ppm.
Baoding, China, September 18, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Mountain Environmental (mountainhb) has expanded its high-barrier bagasse laminated tray range, a series built on a fiber-first material strategy for food packaging.
Leading With Compliance
The trays are engineered so that the functional barrier constitutes less than 5% of total product weight. That construction keeps them classified as fiber-based packaging under frameworks such as the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, which supports partners in managing plastic tax exposure without moving to lower-performance materials.
The range has also achieved SGS ND-level results, with total fluorine residues verified below 10ppm. That verification allows food service providers to meet demanding food safety standards while reducing reliance on fluorinated chemistry.
Supporting Test Record
The bagasse coated tray was tested by SGS against the EU chemical restriction set. Report QDHL260600954101CW, issued 2 July 2026, returned Pass or Non-Detected on every applicable parameter. The scope covered a full 725-substance PFAS scan, the REACH entries for C9-C14 perfluorocarboxylic acids and PFHxA, the EU POPs entries for PFOA, PFOS and PFHxS, bisphenol A under REACH Annex XVII, and phthalates under REACH entries 51 and 52.
Engineered for High-Stress Applications
The trays are designed for the pre-made meal and catering sectors, and the series carries three characteristics:
Total barrier protection: resistance to moisture and oxygen that prevents leakage and helps preserve food freshness.
Thermal versatility: suited to microwave and oven reheating, offering a high-performance alternative to CPET plastic.
A matched transition system: trays, films and sealing solutions are delivered together as a one-stop system that supports an airtight, consistent seal.
Manufacturing Base
Mountain Environmental operates a manufacturing base in Cambodia that supports a stable and tariff-advantaged supply chain for the North American and European markets.
About Mountain Environmental
Mountain Environmental (mountainhb; Hebei Mountain Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd.) supplies fiber-based bagasse food packaging: laminated trays with plastic content below 5%, and non-laminated products made of 100% bagasse fiber. Its bagasse coated tray is SGS-tested with total fluorine below 10ppm (report QDHL260600954101CW, issued 2026-07-02), and the range holds industrial composting certification (BPI / TUV OK Compost Industrial / ABAP) together with FDA, LFGB, BRC, ISO 9001/14001/45001 and BSCI certification, aligned with EU SUPD requirements.
