Dos Lunas Annnounces That It is Now Chemical-Free

Dos Lunas Tequila has recently announced that it is one of the few tequilas which can boast of being herbicide, pesticide and chemical-free.

El Paso, TX, August 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Dos Lunas Tequila Celebrates Its Third Year of Being Herbicide and Pesticide-Free.

Dos Lunas Spirits LLC, a premium tequila company based El Paso, Texas, announced today that Dos Lunas Tequila has just completed three full years as one of the industry’s only herbicide and pesticide-free tequilas.

Founder and CEO Richard C. Poe II made the announcement and said, “I am proud of Dos Lunas Tequila, not only because it is all natural and chemical-free but also because it continues to be a standout in terms of flavor and taste, and is undoubtedly the smoothest tequila on the market today.”

The highlands of Mexico, just outside of the small village of Aguas Escondidas, is home to the organic ranch which nurtures the finest Blue Weber agave plants, which are the heart and soul of every bottle of Dos Lunas.

The ranch stands alone in the region for being completely herbicide and pesticide-free. Dos Lunas is 100% estate-grown.

Some tequila companies cut corners by using young, immature plants. Not so with Dos Lunas. Agave plants used in making Dos Lunas are allowed between eight and fourteen years to fully mature.

At the Dos Lunas distillery in Guadalajara, wax from the harvested agave plants is removed by hand before baking. This practice is labor intensive but adds to the purity of the final product.

The hearts, or pinas, of the agave plants are slowly baked in traditional stone clay ovens twice as long as most tequilas. This process ensures the extracted agave juices are ready for fermentation.

Additionally, Dos Lunas does not use any chemical additives, such as glycerin or calcium chloride, at the manufacturing plant. Dos Lunas uses only natural fermentation and real yeast, as opposed to enzymes, a shortcut used by some other tequila brands. The on-site laboratory grows and maintains its own yeast culture to ferment Dos Lunas.

After the third and final distillation, the head and tail, or the first and last liquids are removed and discarded. Dos Lunas uses only the center part, or the purest and best part of the distilled tequila. All Dos Lunas Tequilas are Kosher and have been certified as such.

The bottling process for Dos Lunas is unique to the industry because each bottle is thoroughly cleaned and washed inside with like-kind tequila prior to filling with Dos Lunas tequila. The manufacturing plant is one of the cleanest and best-maintained sites in the “Tequila Region” of Mexico.

Dos Lunas Silver is bottled immediately after distillation, while Reposado is aged for nine months in charred American White Oak barrels, previously used by a renowned Tennessee whiskey company. Dos Lunas Anejo is aged for 18 months.

Dos Lunas Grand Reserve is a special 10-year old extra anejo tequila, bottled in an elegant Baccarat decanter and secured in a luxurious, lockable case. Dos Lunas Grand Reserve is aged in Spanish sherry oak casks, and is one of the oldest and finest tequilas on the market today.

“My objective has always been to create the smoothest, most refined tequila in the world,” said Poe. Patience, a strong commitment to purity and clean practice have made Dos Lunas the finest and smoothest tequila on the market today. Poe goes on the say, “Our goal at Dos Lunas has always been to produce the best tequila in the world.”

Dos Lunas Tequila is now available in 17 U.S states including: Texas, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Michigan, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Georgia, Illinois, California, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and in Alberta, Canada.

Dos Lunas Tequila has already won prestigious gold medals at highly-acclaimed World Spirits Competition in San Francisco, the Agave Spirits Challenge in Cancun, and at the International Review of Spirits in Chicago, where Dos Lunas Reposado won First Place with a score of 94 points. No other tequila has ever scored higher.
