NARI Wins Prestigious 2008 Gold Circle Award for Excellence in Association Communications

Des Plaines, IL, August 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) announced today it has been recognized by American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) & The Center for Association Leadership with a 2008 Gold Circle Award for excellence in communications in its Website Category.

"The Gold Circle Award is an important validation of the vision and commitment of NARI leadership and staff,” said Mary Busey Harris, CAE, NARI’s executive director. “By providing a centralized assortment of information related to the remodeling industry, the site has proven to be of enormous member benefit as well as an important source of information about remodeling to the consumer.”

Selected from a record 373 entries, award recipients were chosen for demonstrating excellence in communications in the categories of print publishing, writing, electronic publishing, media relations and emerging communication vehicles. The Gold Circle Awards Program is the premier association communications award program and is given to associations in each of two budget classes per category: associations with total budgets of $2 million or less, and those with total budgets over $2 million.

“Our volunteer leaders and staff have worked hard to create a website that offers a cohesive experience for our visitors. It unites NARI’s offerings to both consumers and the trades under one roof,” said Gwen Biasi, director of marketing and communications for NARI. "We are proud to have received this recognition and excited about developing more communications tools to reach a smart and sophisticated audience."

“Congratulations to all of the recipients of the 2008 Gold Circle Award,” said John H. Graham IV, CAE, president and CEO of ASAE. “These recipients show how successful communication vehicles truly help associations accomplish their strategic goals and mission. I applaud the skilled communication professionals who have mastered their tools and communication message strategies to create these exemplary pieces.”

Entries for the Gold Circle Awards Program are judged consistently in each category based on established guidelines for excellence in association communications. In addition to a Gold Circle Award, an Honorable Mention may be awarded in some categories. More than 57 judges nationwide participated in the 2008 program.

“Associations have always taken pride in the impact and effectiveness of their communications, and this is evidenced by the significant growth in the number of entries this year for the Gold Circle Awards. The high quality of the submissions is a reflection of the care and professionalism that associations take in preparing communications vehicles of all types,” said Cecilia Sepp, 2007-2008 chair of the Gold Circle Awards Committee. “One of the outcomes of this year’s program is the creation of a list of effective communications practices that were compiled from this year’s judges’ comments. We will be sharing those practices in the months to come with ASAE Communications Section members as a set of guidelines for them to consider as they develop their future communications programs.”

Recipients will be presented with their awards during the Gold Circle Awards ceremony on August 17 during the 2008 ASAE & The Center Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Diego. An electronic sample of NARI’s entry can be seen at online www.asaecenter.org/2008GCAWinners.
