A Crop--for the Cure

Fair Lawn, NJ, August 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A Crop—for the Cure: Crafts and Creativity Raise Money for Breast Cancer Fund.

Ever thought your scrapbooking hobby could help cure breast cancer? Put your creativity to the task by learning new scrapbooking techniques and tips while supporting a worthy cause. Join Athena’s Pink Ladies team leader Tara Meacham for a unique fundraiser on August 16th: A Crop—for the Cure!

Donors will attend a “Scrap on a Budget” workshop, speak with Creative Memories consultant Elizabeth De Vogel and enjoy snacks, beverages and entrees. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and raffle. Earn extra raffle tickets by bringing in a used cell phone or printer ink cartridge (printer cartridge must not have been re-filled already) as a donation. For each phone or cartridge you bring, you will receive a free entry into a raffle! Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day walk via http://08/the3day.org/goto/tara.

Athena’s Pink Ladies is a team of quirky, driven, and successful women led by Tara Meacham, a production editor and freelance writer in Philadelphia. On their website, Athena’s Pink Ladies writes that they are named after the Greek goddess of wisdom because “Basically, she was smart and tough, kind of like us!”

The 3 Day is a 60 mile walk taken over three days during which teams of supporters and survivors walk and camp together. However, the journey begins much earlier when the participants train their bodies into shape, raise awareness with their friends and family and raise funds to support their cause. For Tara Meacham, the walk is a chance to reflect on life and honor her role model, Linda McCartney, who suffered from breast cancer. This scrapbooking event will help Tara achieve her goal of $2,200 to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust, which funds breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. Donations will be listed on the official site.

This event is limited to 40 participants and RSVP is required. Cost is $20 for half a day and $40 for a full day. Payment can be prearranged online with event organizer or cash only at the door. The event will be held on August 16th from 10am to 11pm at Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church (Ed Building) on 7-01 River Road of Fair Lawn, New Jersey. RSVP is required by Thursday, August 14th 2008.
