thatsTamil.com Helps a Blind Child in India Raise Funds for Education

Once again the Tamil Channel of oneIndia.in – thatsTamil.com has created an impact among its readers through the story of an aspiring blind student from Tuticorin. The channel is proud yet indebted to it's readers for having shown a noble gesture in helping the blind boy pursue his dream.

Bangalore, India, August 07, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On July 6, 2008 thatsTamil.com published an article (thatstamil.oneindia.in/news/2008/06/06/tn-we-can-help-blind-anand-to-open-his-wisdom-eyes.html) about a blind boy named Anand from Tuticorin (Saathankulam town) in Tamil Nadu, India who sought financial help for pursuing higher education.

Anand had secured 1047 marks in his +2 examinations and wanted to enroll for a diploma course in teaching at a private institute in Tuticorin. But the education fee of Rs. 40,000/- demanded by the institute was way out of Anand’s capability. His parents were struggling to arrange for the huge course fee. Anand also needed money to undergo medical treatment for curing his blindness.

After learning about Anand’s hapless situation and his determination to study further, their Tuticorin correspondent filed a quick story. The story was published on thatsTamil.com to create awareness among it's wide spread readers and connect Anand with people who were willing to contribute.

Soon, there were readers from various countries coming forward to help Anand.

thatsTamil.com takes pride in reporting that it's loyal readers have successfully raised INR 45,000 to fund Anand’s education and medical expenses. Anand has now joined (thatstamil.oneindia.in/news/2008/08/04/tn-anand-joins-bed-course-thanks-to-thatstamil.html) the Joseph Teacher training institute for a diploma in secondary grade teacher training in Tamil.

thatsTamil.com & oneIndia.in would like to thank it's US readers Suresh, Manikandan, Ramu, Thangaraj and Nagerkoil Jyothi who have generously donated towards Anand’s first year education expenses.

Not long ago, thatsTamil.com had published another article about a School with a single teacher for 153 students. India Sudar, an NGO in Bangalore read their article and immediately sent out two of their teachers on their own cost.
