Dennis Duffy, D Scale and Sanford Custom Team for 2008 Dining by Design

Boston, MA, October 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Dennis Duffy of Duffy Design Group www.duffydesigngroup.com and D Scale www.dscalemodern.com, is teaming up with Marc Kaplan of Sanford Custom Builders www.sanfordcustom.com to create a unique dining experience for the 2008 Dining by Design extravaganza to be held at the Boston Design Center and Black Falcon Pier, Boston. Dubbed the “Cannes of Tabletop” by filmmaker John Waters, Dining by Design is a multi-city tour with featured events in New York, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston. This will mark Boston’s second year as host to this spectacular event. Last year Duffy Design Group participated in Boston’s first staging of this affair. “It’s a great cause,” notes Dennis Duffy, “and we are truly committed to the mission of DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids www.diffa.org. Last year we designed a dining experience with an African motif, highlighting the region of the world most ravaged by AIDS. This year we are upping the style quotient by creating a pavilion that stimulates the senses with color, form, pattern and sound.

Dining by Design showcases the talents and creativity of various designers, architects, builders, photographers, fashion designers, graphic designers and other multi-media artists and corporations who share their unique, over-the-top, three-dimensional installations with their dinner guests. “We’re delighted to be a sponsor for this event,” says Marc Kaplan of Sanford Custom Homes, “it’s a noteworthy benefit and we’re proud to support it.” Sanford Custom Builders is one of Boston’s premier builders of high-end custom homes.

Dining by Design raises significant funds to support the care and treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS as well as preventative education for those at risk. The funds raised by the Boston event will go directly to a local nonprofit organization, Community Research Initiative of New England (CRI) (www.crine.org).

The two-day event begins on Friday, December 5, 2008 with “Cocktails by Design” the opening night cocktail party followed on Saturday, December 6, 2008 with a “Public Preview” from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and culminating with the “Dining by Design Gala” on Saturday evening.
