Mednovus Ferromagnetic Detection Systems Now Available Through Siemens Medical

Leucadia, CA, October 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Mednovus, Inc., has teamed with Siemens Medical Solutions’ Accessory Division for the distribution of the Mednovus SAFESCAN® hand-held Target Scanner™ and pass-through MRI Sentinel® ferromagnetic detection systems.

Siemens, one of the world leaders in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology, is now featuring the Mednovus MRI ferromagnetic screening products in their catalogue of MRI accessories.

The Mednovus products, designed to help identify materials that can be drawn toward an MRI’s magnet with life-threatening force, are a critical part of pre-screening patients, visitors, and staff before they approach the MRI system.

Ferromagnetic detection systems, such as the Mednovus products, have been recommended by accrediting bodies, such as the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Joint Commission, patient safety groups and industry experts in MRI safety.

“Now MRI providers across the country can order these recommended safety products directly from Siemens, one of the world’s leading MRI manufacturers,” stated Tobias Gilk, president of Mednovus. “And because Siemens accessories division is an ‘open door’ vendor, these products are available to any U.S. MRI provider, even if their MRI magnet comes from GE, Philips, or one of the other manufacturers.”

Though the distribution agreement was only finalized in September, Mednovus has already seen a jump in orders.

“It may be anecdotal, but our hand-held Target Scanners™ have always been an ‘in stock’ item. In October we’ve already seen two brief periods when our shelves were bare and we’re continuing to ramp-up production,” Gilk offers.

And there’s a similar story for the company’s pass-through MRI Sentinel® portals. “While these have been manufactured with a just-in-time method to cut lead time, now there are many more customers telling us that they’re planning Siemens MRI installations and that they will be taking advantage of the coordinated site-planning or finance options that are available through Siemens. We’ve started pre-ordering components to work to keep ahead of demand. These are very exciting challenges to have,” said Gilk.

In November, the world’s largest radiology trade show, RSNA, is held in Chicago and both Mednovus and Siemens will be exhibiting.

“We understand that there’s a possibility that the Mednovus products will be one of Siemens’ featured accessories at RSNA this year. That would be a tremendous jump-start to this relationship. I don’t mind telling you that we’re all quite excited at the prospect,” stated Gilk.

Mednovus products are currently available through Siemens Accessories Hotline (1-888-222-9944) or Siemens Medical radiology sales representatives nationwide.
