Free Irish Storytelling to be Presented by National Storyteller on St. Patrick's Day in Goodyear, Arizona

Irish storytelling for adults will be offered free on St. Patrick's Day, 7:00PM, March 17, 2009 at the "Ground Control Coffee Lounge" located at 14140 W Indian School #B1 in Goodyear, AZ.

Goodyear, AZ, March 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A performance of "Irish Stories from Before and Then" will be the launch of a new program of monthly storytelling called "StoryRise." National storyteller and west-valley resident Sean Buvala presents a one-hour performance of Celtic storytelling for adults on St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday March 17, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. The event is free of charge and will be held at the "Ground Control Coffee Lounge" located at 14140 W Indian School #B1 in Goodyear, AZ. This performance is not intended for children. For more information, please see the StoryRise website at http://www.storyrise.com.

"Irish stories contain all types of interesting situations such as stolen-away brides, havoc-causing pookas, demons disguised as animals and the 'Salmon of Knowledge.' Add to that the foggy hills making for misperception and you have the stew that makes the fun and serious stories of Ireland and other Celtic areas," says Sean Buvala. Sean has been working nationally in storytelling for 23 years and is recognized for his storytelling by the National Storytelling Network with their "Oracle Award."

Buvala added, "We want to be sure that folks understand this is not a children's event. Our storytelling is intended for adults and mature teens. We like to call these nights the 'no bunny slippers' events, referring to the famous footwear of young children. People sometimes hear the word 'storytelling' and think cute, little story-times at the local library. This presentation is nothing like that at all."

Seating at Ground Control is limited so guests are encouraged to arrive early for a good view. The restaurant will be offering a wine-tasting one hour before the show. For more details, call the staff at 623.935.2604.

StoryRise is a new offering from Sean Buvala and Storyteller.net that will present nights of adult storytelling on the third Saturday of each month. The "Ground Control" coffee house will be the new home for StoryRise when the programs begin in April. Along with the monthly performances, classes and workshops will be offered to help west-valley residents learn the art of storytelling for business, school, performances, non-profit management or entrepreneurial growth.
