Colorado BioScience Association Names Rick Jory Board Chair, Announces 2009 Sponsors and Appoints Seven New Board Members

Rick Jory, CEO of Sandhill Scientific, Inc., Highlands Ranch, was named chairperson of the board of directors for the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA). He was appointed at the association’s 2009 annual meeting yesterday. Jory assumes chairperson responsibilities from Jack Wheeler, MicroPhage, Inc. In other action, seven new members were named to the CBSA board of directors.

Denver, CO, April 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Rick Jory, CEO of Sandhill Scientific, Inc. (http://www.sandhillsci.com), Highlands Ranch, was named chairperson of the board of directors for the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) at its 2009 annual all-member meeting held at the Colorado National Golf Club facilities in Erie, CO, yesterday. The announcement is made by John Collar, CBSA President & CEO, who says Jory assumes chairperson responsibilities from Jack Wheeler, entrepreneur and founder of MicroPhage, Inc.

Prior to introducing Jory to the CBSA membership, Wheeler announced the following 2009 association sponsors: Platinum – Cooley Godward Kronish, Colorado State University, and the University of Colorado. Gold – Colorado Science + Technology Park at Fitzsimons, Merck & Co., Inc. and Snell & Wilmer Silver – Amgen, CaridianBCT, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Ernst & Young, Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority, and Pfizer. Bronze – Baxa Corporation, Dorsey & Whitney, Fairfield & Woods, Hogan & Hartson, Holland & Hart, Johnson & Johnson, OSI Pharmaceuticals, PhRMA, Poisinelli Shughart and We Work for Health.

Jory’s company, Sandhill Scientific, is a medical device manufacturer specializing in diagnostic devices primarily used by gastroenterologists and endoscopic surgeons. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA in Finance. Jory’s past experience includes work with both Cobe Laboratories and Valleylab. He is past Board Chair of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce and former President of the Colorado Medical Device Association.
New vice chairperson of the CBSA board is Dr. Richard Duke, founding scientist of GlobeImmune and President of Apoplogic Pharmaceuticals. In other action, seven new board members were approved by the CBSA membership.

Nominations for new board members were taken from the CBSA membership and acted upon by the 2009 Nominating Committee. The CBSA Board of Directors is comprised of members from the following business affiliations:

* 20% from traditional biotechnology companies
* 20% from traditional medical device companies
* 10% from research organizations
* 10% from service providers
* 10% from emerging companies
* Remainder based on need and opportunity
