vacation ideas, today announced it has raised $2 million in Series A financing. Investment was led by an undisclosed A-list group of Bay Area investors.
Launched in May 2007, Tripbase is now the market leader for personalized vacation ideas, being named Travel and Leisure’s Top Travel Website for Destination Ideas in November 2008.
Tripbase was founded with the aim of eliminating the laborious process involved in travel search and discovery online. Rather than sifting through mountains of online info, users simply enter in their vacation preferences (attractions, shopping etc.) then, in a matter of seconds, Tripbase analyzes information taken from over 22 million travel reviews to generate a personalized list of recommended destinations, flights, hotels etc.
Tripbase’s travel search technology constantly scans the web for the most up to date data. The site’s destination discovery engine then uses semantic search to match travelers’ preferences with the most relevant information online, providing personalized vacation ideas based on over 20,000 travel destinations worldwide.
