Olympia Medical Center Appoints Los Angeles City Advocate Betty Wilson to Board

Olympia Medical Center appointed the 14th board member to the board. The hospital is located in the heart of Los Angeles and has been providing medical care to its community since 1948. Services at the 204-bed acute care hospital include comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services and a 24-hour emergency room.

Los Angeles, CA, May 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Olympia Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Betty R. Wilson, Director of Community Affairs with the City of Los Angeles’ Department on Disability, to the hospital’s board of directors. Wilson, an advocate and pioneer for the delivery of services to people with mental and physical disabilities, has been selected to serve as the newest member to the existing 14 member hospital board.

Wilson is responsible for the establishment of the first Department on Disability at any municipal government level. Currently, she is focusing on the oversight, development and supervision of innovative programs for the disability community.

Wilson has received the United Nations Distinguished Service Award , Medallion of Excellence, and the International Service Award from United Disabled Latin Americans. She was also an invited speaker at the United Nations General Assembly and Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland.
