San Jose, CA, June 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Monitis Inc., a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use, enterprise class, systems management software, adds MIBs browsing to it's free network monitoring service MonitorSNMP, making SNMP monitoring easy for network engineers.

A management information base (MIB) is a type of database used to manage the devices in a communications network. It comprises a collection of objects in a (virtual) database used to manage entities (such as routers and switches) in a network. MonitorSNMP monitors values of these objects and MIBs contain useful information about these objects. There are a large number of MIBs defined by both standards organizations like the IETF, private enterprises and other entities.

The new feature of MonitorSNMP allows browsing of the database by navigating the virtual object tree and finding appropriate objects according to the user needs. From the tree users may instantly add monitoring of the selected object per any network device in their network. Besides standard MIBs the user may upload any MIB file. The current MIBs depository contains a large number of MIBs from well known brands like Cisco/Linksys, Microsoft, HP, Juniper Networks etc.

“Monitis is committed to providing free but advanced services to its community.” Hovhannes Avoyan, CEO and Founder of Monitis, says “One of Monitis free services, Mon.itor.Us, is already a recognized Internet name and it is massively used for web servers monitoring. MonitorSNMP is a similar product that we are developing for the network professionals.”

MonitorSNMP is a hosted service and so users don't need to have a dedicated server and installed software, and they don't have all the maintenance problems that go with them. Instead they just need to download a small footprint agent and run it on any Linux, Windows, FreeBSD or Solaris machine, and use it as a local monitoring point. The performance data will be submitted by the agent to MonitorSNMP central server via HTTPs protocol, and will be instantly available from the Web. A great advantage of this approach is that in a matter of minutes network specialists can setup the monitoring of a distributed network.

Monitis is planning to launch new free services in coming weeks.
