Teacher, author, and founder of The Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing Christina Pratt talks with a former Catholic sister, Karen Furr, about "Shamanism and a Living Relationship with Christ" on Pratt’s show "Why Shamanism Now? A Practical Path to Authenticity."

Portland, OR, June 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Streaming live on the Voice America Network (www.voiceamerica.com) on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. Pacific time/5 p.m. Eastern time, Karen Furr, a former member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, says: “It is not what we do that heals, but what we allow ourselves to become… Jesus taught that the realm of the Divine is within each of us and it is there that we can access the infinite compassion of Mystery.” In this episode of “Why Shamanism Now?” titled “Shamanism and a Living Relationship with Christ”, Furr talks to Pratt about how it doesn’t matter what tradition we are immersed in, but that we encounter that Mystery and Spirit within, and how her love of Spirit and devotion to the healing charisma of Jesus is infused in her shamanic healing and teaching.

As a former Catholic sister, Furr walks the path of the mystic and healer, seeking and facilitating healing for self, community, and the planet. Listeners will get to experience the grace with which Furr’s religious life infuses her shamanic life, empowering this excellent healer.

Christina Pratt is an authentic, non-traditional contemporary shaman. In practice since 1990, she specializes in mending the soul and transforming the parts of life that feel impossible. A teacher of exceptional clarity, humor, and inspiration, Pratt brings the power of shamanism into the practical grasp of anyone willing to take responsibility for improving the quality of their life. Her well-received book, An Encyclopedia of Shamanism (Rosen), is an 800 page, two-volume set with over 750 in-depth entries that clearly discuss the basic concepts of shamanism, methods, and traditions of over 50 different shamanic peoples. Pratt is the creator of the original Foundations of Shamanism and Shamanic Healing course at the University of Minnesota and a frequent and honored speaker for the American Holistic Medical Association.

Karen Furr is a former member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor and has devoted much of her life to working with those who have experienced economic poverty, as well as abuse, addiction, homelessness and trauma. Her love of Spirit and devotion to the healing charisma of Jesus has led her into the way of alternative healing through Shamanism. For her there is no separation of the realities of seen and unseen, and her work as a healer is rooted in the belief that it is not what we "do" that heals, but what we allow ourselves to become. As Jesus taught, the realm of the Divine is within each of us, and it is there that we can access the infinite compassion of Mystery. It does not matter what tradition we are immersed in, but that we encounter that Mystery and Spirit within. As a former Catholic sister, Furr is aware that it is in bringing Light into the world that healing and wholeness can happen. She is excited about the emerging paradigm of Oneness and welcomes the challenge and movement of this evolution of Spirit.
