Surf Surges in 3rd Quarter to Outlast the Cobras

Great plays and teamwork pushed the Surf into a victory in 3rd and 4th quarter against the Compton Cobras, finishing at 117-98.

San Diego, CA, January 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Compton Cobras lead this past Sunday's game for the first two quarters, until the duo effort of “Sonny” Smith and John Clark broke the 68-68 tie. The 4th quarter began the surge of back to back strong plays by the Surf with Terry Menefee's slam dunk, John Clark's 3D-light 3pointer, and Kalonji “Kono” Kadima's consecutive 3-pointers. The Cobras efforts defused after Richard Hardwick's intense half-court shot making the final score 117 – 98. John Clark was player of the game with a gallant effort of 30 points, seven 3-pointers, and 6 assists. Aaron Hands added 18 points and 9 rebounds, Sonny Smith 15 points and 9 rebounds, Terry Menefee's 13 points, Chris Agnes 12 points, 8 rebounds; Jamal Kendrick who also had 9 rebounds in the victory.

The glamorous Surf Squad dancers sported new outfits and added a lot of energy throughout timeouts and halftime. A number of entertainers dazzled the crowd at half-time and the breaks including a local Brazilian drum team called "Sol e Mar" and the fantastic singing of two performers, "Sominique" and the "E'levee" trio.

This week's publicity on TMZ.com's Sports section of the dunk on “The Game” by your SD Surf point guard Sonny Smith, created some buzz and pride for San Diego Surf of the ABA. The Surf will play Thursday evening in Las Vegas.
