Bodhin Adventure Services Announces Elite Teams for Upcoming 2-day Mountain Bike Race in Nicaragua

San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, February 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- While several elite teams announce participation in the largest mountain bike race in Nicaragua, course officials take care of business re-designing and cleaning courses from regional windstorms.

Several Elite Teams have confirmed their participation, sweetening the competitive field for the upcoming 2- day Howler Mountain Bike Race in Southern Nicaragua, and stoking the fire for the 2010 race season. Elite race teams from Costa Rica have confirmed participation on Thursday, raising doubts that the reigning race team, Immobia, will maintain the title for “the Howler.”

“This year’s race is shaping up to be quite exciting with elite teams from neighboring Costa Rica. There’s even been a little smack talking on ‘who’s to claim the $500 purse for the 1st place slot,’” said Larry Thraen of Bodhin Adventure Services. “Without our generous sponsors, we would not have been able to attract the elite teams, and generate interest from Costa Rica,” said Thraen.

In addition to the excitement around the prize monies and sponsor prizes including 2 bicycles, and new helmets, athletes can look forward to another great course design this year. The course took a beating recently with evidence of the stronger than usual winds, leaving several trees blown over and branches across the single track.

“All the downed trees from the wind phenomenon a few weeks ago have been cleared and the courses are ready for racers. Most of the course is wicked sweet and high-quality mountain biking. The single track on the short course and a majority of the downhill on Sunday’s main course are epic!!” stated Bob “Bomber” Bombardier, the Howler’s course designer and Maintenance Chief.

Spectators wishing to witness some live competitive bike action and enjoy some of “Cuban Luis’s” Smoke on the Water BBQ are encouraged to make the short 12 minute drive north of San Juan del Sur on Saturday for the Howler ‘Short Course’ by following temporary Howler event signs and can park up at El Encanto del Sur’s Phase II area where the start and finish line take place. The easiest entrance for the race is past the El Encanto main entry point off the famous “Chocolata.”
