Borneo Highlands Resort Joins Earth Hour 2010

Borneo Highlands Resort joins Earth Hour 2010 as part of their support for environment preservation in line with their concept of "Back to Nature, Back to Basics"

Kuching, Malaysia, March 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Borneo Highlands Resort is pledging its supports to Earth Hour 2010 which start at 8:30pm and ends at 9:30pm on 27th March 2010 joining hundreds of millions people all around the world. Earth Hour is a global effort to remind all about the implications of global warming and to increase awareness of the need to save Mother Earth for future generations.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007 and it has become internationally recognized with ever growing number of supporters that become aware of the dangers of losing Mother Earth if still no actions are taken. For more information on Earth Hour, please go to http://www.earthhour.org and if you are from Malaysia, take a look at http://ehm.my/.

Thus on 27th March 2010, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, Borneo Highlands Resort together with its employees will take part in Earth Hour ~ the world’s largest global climate change event. By simply turning out all non-essential lighting at all outlets for one hour at the Resort buildings and in employees’ own homes, Borneo Highlands Resort will join hundreds of millions of concerned people throughout the world in calling for action to save Mother Earth for future generations. This is in line with Borneo Highlands Resort’s eco-resort concept of “Back to Nature. Back to Basics” where preservation of the environment and Mother Earth are of utmost importance.

At Borneo Highlands Resort, actions are taken throughout the organization in order to operate more efficiently, minimize wastage, and reduce environment footprint. Employees of the resort are asked to switch off all non-essential lights at the resort and also their own homes. Although one hour cannot do much to reduce the environment footprint, the switching off act for one hour actually represent or symbolize a movement that care enough for the environment to act.

Collectively, the correct signals can be sent globally that it is of utmost importance to care for Mother Earth so that there will always be a Mother Earth for future generations. It’s all about giving people a voice on the future of our planet and working together to create a sustainable low carbon future for Earth.

Not only during Earth Hour that Borneo Highlands Resort conserve energy and reduce their footprint on the environment. The Resort has been striving to contribute to the green initiative and nature preservation with implementation of environmental friendly measures. Actions such replacing inefficient light bulbs to more efficient energy saving and environmentally friendly LED lights have been done which not only reduce the carbon footprint but also cost efficient.
