West Orange, NJ, April 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Many people today think about working as an internet professional, but aren’t quite sure where or how to begin. The latest podcast release in the Ear on Careers series is an excellent starting point. In this podcast, Amy Gideon, co-founder of TAG Online in Clifton, NJ, www.tagonline.com, discusses her background with the internet from before it was really available to the public and how she parlayed her education and experience into a successful web company. To access this podcast, go to www.bit.ly/dAlYur.

In this podcast, Gideon discusses her personal history as a high school student without too much direction. When she finally realized that she wanted to attend the University of Pennsylvania, her grades were not up to par, so she decided to attend Hofstra University instead. Focusing on her ultimate goal, she earned a 4.0 in her freshman year there, and then transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. This decision not only allowed her to double major in Decision Science (now called Information Science) and Finance, but also led her to her future husband and business partner at Tag Online, Andrew. Both she and Andrew earned their Masters Degrees in Computer Science from New York University.

“Amy is a true pioneer of the internet,” states Mike Rivera, co-founder of Top-Tier Tutoring and host of Ear on Careers. He continues, “It’s all the more impressive to hear a woman speak about being a part of the development of the internet, and how she parlayed that experience into being a programmer and co-founder of a very successful full service web company.”

During the podcast, Gideon explains her original role as a programmer within her company, and her transition into more of a sales and marketing position. Listen as she discusses some harrowing war stories, and how she was able to avert disaster. Gideon also offers tips to those aspiring to follow in her footsteps as an internet professional, and stresses the importance of doing what you love and learning it inside and out.
