Social Media Experts of All Stripes Expected at the Inaugural PodCamp Cleveland Unconference

Cleveland, Ohio launches the first ever annual PodCamp Cleveland event May 1, 2010 in Brecksville, Ohio.

Cleveland, OH, April 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- PodCamp Cleveland, the latest addition to the worldwide PodCamp scene, is set to launch its inaugural social media unconference on May 1, 2010. The event will be co-sponsored by Search Circus and the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, where the event will be held.

What’s a PodCamp? PodCamps are conferences done a little differently. Think of them as conferences 2.0. Since premiering in Boston in 2006, PodCamps have earned a reputation as a more informal, free-flowing twist on the traditional conference experience. That makes sessions more animated, more candid and more fun.

The first podCamp was help on September 8-10, 2006, in Boston, Massachusetts. PodCamps are now being held annually worldwide, including being held just around the corner at PodCamp Pittsburgh, PodCamp Ohio in Columbus, PodCamp Philadelphia and others, from all the way to PodCamp Houston, to even a PodCamp Honolulu event each year too.

And PodCamps aren’t just for Podcasters. PodCamps are designed for anyone and everyone interested in social media and the Web. The one-day gathering will bring together podcasters, bloggers, online video producers, Web developers, business owners, social media experts and anyone else interested in the world of Web 2.0. PodCamp Cleveland will be held in the true unconference spirit, which means it will present a series of informal sessions where people can discuss the latest techniques and tactics of the new online landscape. The event is free for all attendees, but advance registration is required.

“Northeast Ohio has a very active blogging and social media community,” says PodCamp Cleveland organizer Wendy Suto, “We thought it was time to hold a conference that would give people a chance to share their expertise and enhance their own skills.”

PodCamp Cleveland is lining up a team of speakers who will volunteer their expertise in casual sessions. Past PodCamp discussions in other cities across the USA have dealt with everything from how to use Twitter to promote a business to how to tell a compelling story with a Podcast. Event organizers are also looking for PodCamp sponsors who want to reach the Cleveland area’s most tech savvy consumers and for volunteers who want to be a part of the conference’s inaugural year.
