Samurai Karate Participates in March for Babies

Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, SC, recently participated in a fund raiser for the March of Dimes by holding a movie night and participating in the March For Babies. The school raised over $150 for the fund raiser.

Columbia, SC, April 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, SC, just completed a fund raiser for the March of Dimes that collected a total of $150.00 in donations.

"One of my adult students has a friend who lost a baby at birth and he wanted to help support his friend," commented Sensei Chris Feldt, the owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate, "so he organized this event as his community service project for his next belt rank."

Samurai Karate held a pot luck dinner on Friday night, and watched the original Karate Kid movie. The kids got to play games before and after the movie. All participants were asked to make a small donation.

The following day, students and parents participated in the March for Babies walk, which was being sponsored by the March of Dimes throughout South Carolina.

"We had more than a dozen students and parents participate in this walk," commented Feldt, "everyone had a great attitude and we had lots of fun. It was a little warm, but we managed to avoid the rain and get our walk in."

Samurai Karate Studio teaches a traditional style of karate to both children and adults, beginning at age 4 years old. Community service is an important part of the training curriculum that all students, regardless of their age, are encouraged to support.

"The term Samurai, loosely translated, means one who serves," stated Feldt, "and I expect my students to serve themselves by getting fit, eating healthy and learning how to defend themselves, serve their family, their community and their world. My goal is to help my students take what they learn in the dojo, out into the world!"
