BrightCom Enables Mobile Telepresence with Sprint 4G

BrightCom offers Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing solutions with Sprint 4G for faster communication.

Huntington Beach, CA, May 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- BrightCom, the performance leader in integrated telepresence and video conferencing solutions announced today an agreement with Sprint Nextel to provide Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing solutions using Sprint’s 4G capabilities. The agreement will provide businesses an easy and affordable way to gain high speed wireless network connections for BrightCom telepresence and video conferencing meetings from any location at any time.

Sprint is the first national carrier to roll out 4G, which is currently available in 32 markets covering about 41 million people. By the end of this year, the company expects to launch 4G service in markets across the U.S. that include New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, D.C.,and cover a population of 120 million.

“Sprint 4G is about pioneering the latest in wireless technology to bring customers the fastest possible speeds, excellent Quality of Service (QoS) and the bandwidth required to enable companies like BrightCom to stream HD video broadcasting and download large data files faster and simultaneously,” said Todd Rowley, Vice President – Sprint 4G.

BrightCom’s Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing solutions enabled with Sprints 4G capabilities will rely on the Overdrive™ 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Sierra Wireless or the U301 USB Mobile Device to support their conference room environments with the enhanced network.

The 4G capability will enable meeting participants to use the web based Visual Collaboration System, BrightCom’s telepresence infrastructure, to improve the speed and quality of instant or scheduled video conferences via the web. BrightCom’s VCS provides high definition or standard definition video and audio conferencing side by side with interactive web conferencing features for data collaboration. The Overdrive™ provides support for up to five Wi-Fi devices allowing businesses to easily collaborate on laptops connected via a VCS meeting in a conference room or on the road.

“This is truly a revolution for video conferencing technology,” stated Bob McCandless, CEO of BrightCom. “This partnering of unmatched network speed and data streaming quality with robust communication technology will not only extend the adoption of video conferencing to businesses who do not have the resources to manage a large network necessary to run a telepresence or video conferencing system, but also improve productivity and the rate at which businesses are able to communicate to their partners and customers.”

BrightCom’s VCS is a software based, processor driven, infrastructure that connects BrightCom telepresence suites – fixed, modular and mobile, video conference rooms, mobile video conferencing carts, desktops, laptops, SIP enabled telepresence and video conferencing solutions and remote desktop, laptop and web cam participants. VCS provides a full set of web conferencing capabilities including data sharing, remote desktop control and cooperative interaction with data. The VCS supports data including Microsoft® Office documents, Adobe® Acrobat® PDFs, and a wide range of image and video files.
