Mentor Turned Social Entrepreneur Launches Empowered Flower Girl Company

Rasheda Kamaria, a Detroit-area mentor and volunteer, announces the launch of her Empowered Flower Girl Company, which produces motivational clothing, literature and workshops for girls and young women.

Royal Oak, MI, July 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Detroit-area mentor turned social entrepreneur Rasheda Kamaria, announces the launch of the Empowered Flower Girl (EFG), a company that produces inspirational literature, clothing and programs for girls and young women.

A launch party is scheduled for Wednesday, July 28th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Black Finn Restaurant and Saloon, 530 South Main Street in Royal Oak, Mich. The free event includes a meet and greet with Kamaria, giveaways, information about mentoring, appetizers and a cash bar.

Kamaria, a long-time volunteer and mentor for Detroit-based Alternatives for Girls and Intense Mentoring, started the Empowered Flower Girl in an effort to connect with girls and young women seeking products and resources that enrich and enhance their lives.

She said the event is designed to celebrate her company as well as promote volunteerism and support for local non-profit organizations.

“Launching the Empowered Flower Girl is a direct result of having a network of mentors, peers and family who believe in me,” said Kamaria, 30, of Royal Oak. “I want to share my vision with the community and inspire those around me to make a difference. Many people don’t realize the positive impact they can have in a young person’s life just by spending a few hours a month with them.”

In 2005, Kamaria began writing journal entries and inspirational quotes which developed into the manuscript for her first book “Power Tools for Flower Girls.” The guidebook, designed for tweens and teens, will be available in August on the EFG website along with inspiring t-shirts in three colors: wisdom white, hot chocolate and power pink. The shirts are currently sold at events and online.

In addition to clothing and books for youth and young women, the Empowered Flower Girl provides materials and support to nonprofit organizations.
