BFC Leverages Platform for Commercial Scale Biomass Gasification Feasibility Program

BFC recently created the Rapid Verification ProgramTM a program designed for prospective clients to test their alternative fuels, at tonnage levels, with immediate analysis of the synthesis gas produced and full reports on anticipated operational production results. BFC helps companies test, analyze, and develop full plans for alternative fuel plants, at any stage of development.

Ankeny, IA, August 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- BFC (www.biofuels.com) today announced the availability of its Rapid Validation Program, a new program to replace speculative feasibility studies and expensive demonstration scale tests with a fast-track renewable energy projects (“REP”) program that will serve as a critical step toward successful implementation.

The uniqueness of the program is the decades of real-world experience BFC and its partners provide to clients interested in testing, building and operating renewable energy plants. BFC offers access to its expertise as a permitted owner and operator of a 150 ton-per-day biomass energy plant. Additionally, the company has developed partnerships with industry-leading equipment, program and construction management companies that together provide an outsourced R&D platform called the Rapid Validation Program TM. The program provides clients with all the equipment and expertise to grind, blend, cube, gasify and test their renewable energy projects in real-time and at tonnage levels.

While the majority of today’s biomass gasification companies remain in the infancy stage, BFC has tested over 150 different materials, and has successfully permitted and used more than 30 of these biomass and industrial materials in its renewable energy commercial operations. "It is BFC’s specialized understanding of the different compositions of materials, and the ability to optimize conversion without creating dangerous emissions or effluents that differentiate BFC’s capabilities and technologies from other waste to energy projects,” said Jeff Carter, President & Founder, BFC.

"This offering goes well beyond a feasibility study, in that it provides an immediate understanding of the technical and economic feasibilities of a biomass or waste stream’s characteristics, emissions and value. Further, it could allow our clients to avoid the high capital costs of building demonstration-scale units, or even pilot plants. The program delivers Real-World Solutions in Real-Time," Carter said. For example, a client company recently utilized the Rapid Validation Program TM to verify the btu value and the moisture and ash content of their biomass waste streams. The company’s feedstock required special handling and utilized on-site equipment from Marion Mixers to dry and mix the material before operating the 100 ton test sample in the fully permitted BFC gasifer. The test successfully demonstrated the moisture content of the biomass could be reduced and mixed with a multiple waste streams to achieve an optimal fuel source.

"The time is now for large-scale gasification commercialization of biomass to occur, we believe our Rapid Validation Program TM will accelerate the achievement of that reality and will be the first steps for many clients to jump start their Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) initiatives," Carter said.

“Following the client’s adoption of the Rapid Validation Program TM, BFC and its alliance partners stand ready to provide a turn-key solution for clients that are interested in pursuing gasification of their local material, but cannot afford to take risks with technologies or high project costs,” said Carter.

About BFC

Biofuels Corporation (BFC, BFC Gas & Electric) is a recognized leader in the gasification waste-to-energy industry. BFC utilizes gasification technology as its primary means of converting suitable waste products to flammable gas. BFC owns and operates a 200 ton-per-day commercial scale alternative energy power plant in Iowa which has been in commercial operation for over a decade, producing renewable energy from a broad range of agricultural residues and biomass-based products. The plant serves as a strategic platform for future growth as it is permitted, emission tested (stack testing), fully staffed and operating 24/7. For more information visit www.biofuels.com
