Tony Womack, Scooby Doo Visits Highlight Upcoming Carolina Mudcats Homestand

Zebulon, NC, August 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Carolina Mudcats (http://www.carolinamudcats.com), Wake County’s hometown professional baseball team, is proud to present the following promotions during their upcoming homestand against the Mobile BayBears beginning Wednesday, Aug. 18 through Sunday, Aug. 22, followed by the Birmingham Barons from Monday, Aug. 23 through Wednesday, Aug. 25.

- Former Carolina Mudcats and Major League Baseball star Tony Womack will return on Saturday, Aug. 21 to help the Mudcats celebrate its 20th anniversary season in Zebulon. Womack played for the Mudcats in 1993 and again in the team’s Southern League championship season of 1995 as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He was with the Pirates from 1993-1998, followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks (1999-2003), Colorado Rockies (2003), Chicago Cubs (2003, 2006), St. Louis Cardinals (2004), New York Yankees (2005) and Cincinnati Reds (2006). A MLB All-Star in 1997, Womack led the National League in stolen bases for three consecutive years from 1997 to 1999 and paced the circuit in triples in 2000. He was on the Diamondbacks when the team defeated the Yankees in the 2001 World Series.

- Scooby Doo, where are you? At Five County Stadium to greet fans from Friday, Aug. 20 through Sunday, Aug. 22. Come on out to Five County Stadium to see America’s favorite cartoon dog. Those attending Scooby’s visit Friday can enjoy our Capital Bank fireworks show as well, weather permitting.

- Group Appreciation Day will be held Sunday, Aug. 22. All groups that attended a Mudcats game this season will be welcomed back out to Five County Stadium this afternoon courtesy of the Mudcats, as a way of thanking them for their support of the team throughout the year. Also, Kids Run the Bases after the Aug. 22 game, weather permitting. The event is sponsored by Comet Rice.

- Any fan that purchases a ticket to the Tuesday, Aug. 24 game and shows a Kraft Singles package wrapper will get one free ticket. Also, as part of Bright Leaf Dollar Dog Tuesday, fans can purchase all beef hot dogs for $1 each.

- Aug. 19 will be Thirsty Thursday night, offering special size beer and fountain drinks for a special price.

The Saturday game starts at 6:15 p.m., while the Sunday game begins at 2 p.m. All other games will have a 7:15 p.m. start time.
