NBA All-Star Dwight Howard and Actress Tichina Arnold Set to Host "A Concert for a Cause...Remembering Haiti" in Orlando FL on Sept 15th at House of Blues

Dwight Howard presents “Concert for a Cause…Remembering Haiti,”at the House of Blues Orlando, September 15, 2010 to remind the public that the people in Haiti are still struggling to recover from the terrible earthquake disaster and still need help.

Orlando, FL, September 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- NBA All-Star and philanthropist Dwight Howard and actress Tichina Arnold, star of the hit television series “Everybody Hates Chris” are set to host “A Concert for a Cause…Remembering Haiti,” a night of music and fanfare, September 15, 2010 at the House of Blues Orlando, 1490 E. Buena Vista Dr., Orlando, FL 32830. This special musical event is sponsored by Bright House Networks, House of Blues Orlando, WJHM 102 Jamz FM, the Dwight Howard Fund, and The Kerosene Lamp Foundation. “A Concert for a Cause…Remembering Haiti,” will feature a variety of musical talents and special appearances by Dwight’s Orlando Magic teammates and celebrity friends to raise awareness and funds for the children of Haiti affected by the unforgettable devastation of the January earthquake. States Howard, “I remember the earthquake striking Haiti like it was yesterday, the global support and acts of heroism, initially helped this devastated country, however just over a half of year later, I am still charged to answer the question, “how can I help make Haiti a better place?”

The highly anticipated event is a concerted effort by Dwight and the Dwight Howard Fund to regenerate awareness and financial support for the ongoing needs of children in Haiti, affected by the devastation of the January earthquake. The event is open to all ages and ticket prices range from $35 general admission to $125 VIP admission (meet and greet). Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster and the House of Blues Orlando website. “I wanted to have a special night where people from all over Florida could come hang out, have a good time for a great cause,” states Howard.

For those wanting an up close and personal experience at the event, limited tickets can be purchased to attend a special VIP Pre-Concert dinner with Dwight himself. Only the first 40 guests will be accepted for the price of $1,000 a person (or $1,850 for a couple). Each person at the pre-party will get a four-course meal, a D-12 autographed jersey and VIP admission to the concert. All of the proceeds from the VIP Pre-Concert Dinner and the concert will be donated to local organizations using education and recreation to help Haitian youths return to a sense of normalcy in the aftermath of the earthquake.

On September 17-19, the 4-time winner of the Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award, will travel to Haiti to personally visit with the kids in the area, and talk with local organizations working to provide much needed support to the youngest survivors in the aftermath of the devastating January earthquake that killed an estimated 230,000 and left 1 million people homeless. In an effort to ensure his financial support would be given an identified cause, Dwight created the Dwight Howard Fund which will specifically assist in the relief efforts for children in Haiti. “I’m going down to Haiti before the NBA season starts to personally show Haiti that our community really cares,” states Dwight.
