JForce Project Management Component for Joomla Challenges Mainstream Systems

Graham, NC, September 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The award winning Open Source Content Management System, Joomla!, celebrates its 5th birthday today and on the same day, JForce.com has released its full-featured project management system, JForce PM, built specifically for the same CMS. JForce brings to Joomla! all the features of the popular project management tools available on the web, but incorporated directly into a user’s Joomla! installation.

Joomla! has experienced tremendous growth throughout its 5 year life and is currently utilized on millions of websites around the globe. For example, there are currently over 5,339 extensions exist for the Joomla! CMS. With recent approval from the Joomla! Extension Directory, JForce PM is positioned to become one of the staples of any business-centered Joomla! website.

WebSpark Inc., the parent company of JForce, began the process of creating a project management tool several years ago when the owner, David Hurley, found he needed a system for managing the projects of his web design and development company. As clients began to interact with this project management tool they began to request it implemented on their sites. Hurley decided to release a version of the system under the name JForce as an extension that any Joomla! website could install and use.

When asked about the process of creating JForce PM as a publicly available extension, David said, "Building a user-friendly project and task management component for Joomla proved to be a time-intensive job requiring months of full-time development and coding. But the finished product is one that we at WebSpark are extremely proud to release and support."

JForce is available on the website http://www.jforce.com in several different versions. A community version of the software is available free of charge and under the GNU/GPL license type that Joomla! is founded. This Community version provides a way for JForce to ‘give back’ to the Open Source Community. The JForce Professional version offers advanced features including: quoting and invoicing, dedicated support, customizable access roles, and file attachments. At $24/month JForce Professional has a low monthly cost without project or user restrictions. More details regarding version comparisons can be found on their website at http://www.jforce.com/get-started.html.

The JForce PM system challenges the likes of BaseCamp and ActiveCollab by offering more features while still maintaining a degree of simplicity and a user-friendly interface. Unlike other project management systems, JForce is installed directly on the user’s Joomla! site and without any project limitations. Not backing down from the challenge of competing with other systems, JForce boldly shows exactly how it compares to other project management tools directly on their site at http://www.jforce.com/compare-us-to-others.html.

Initial response from users regarding this new Joomla! project management tool have been positive and strong. "I have to manage over 100 clients during a government application process that has many tasks. JForce handled it perfectly. Being used to traditional PM packages, this one takes all of the complexity away," says one recent JForce user.
