Main Street Oceanside Teams Up with Sunset Market to Bring Tasty Cuisine to Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast Event November 6

Oceanside, CA, September 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Cyclists usually find nutrition in the form of energy bars or trail mix, but that’s all about to change at the inaugural Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast, set for Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Oceanside Pier.

That’s because this unique event – featuring 7, 15, 25 or 50-mile bicycle rides along the San Luis Rey Bike Trail and through the spectacular San Diego North County beach towns -- has joined forces with Main Street Oceanside (MSO) to provide participants and spectators with an array of culinary delights at the Taste The Coast festival that will surround the start and finish of the bike tour.

MSO, producers of the weekly Farmers and Sunset Markets, will bring in a range of popular local food providers from their weekly markets. Booths will offer a wide variety of gastronomic choices, ranging from handmade ice cream, tacos and hamburgers to Mediterranean, Philippine and Cuban cuisine. Meanwhile, live music and a beer garden sponsored by Oceanside Ale Works and benefiting the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and the Oceanside Parks and Recreation Foundation (OPARC) will help keep the festival lively.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to experience the range of food and fun that Oceanside has to offer,” said Kim Heim, Director of MSO (www.msoceanside.com). “We are looking forward to a great event.”

The Taste the Coast festival also features sports and fitness booths for both riders and spectators. Bike the Coast -- Taste the Coast, produced by Event Media, Inc., has partnerships with the Oceanside Bicycle Committee, Main Street Oceanside and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. These groups, along with the Oceanside Visitors Bureau, are bringing together the cycling and business communities in Oceanside to promote bicycling and offer a fun day at the Oceanside Pier. Festival starts at 9:30 a.m. and continues until 2:30 p.m.

Participating in Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast will be Lauryn Moses, Miss Oceanside 2010. A novice cyclist, Moses has just completed a bicycle safety class sponsored by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC) and is busy training to get ready for the big event. Moses will be riding in Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast in support of the American Cancer Society.
