Mediox is Bringing Personalized Content to Fast Food Customers Via Interactive Multimedia Food Service Tray

Baltimore, MD, January 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Mediox Inc. today announced the completion of the feasibility study and first phase of the design cycle for its interactive multimedia fast food tray. The company assembled the first prototype food tray featuring a touch screen display and wireless capabilities.

According to Juniper Research, the average online consumer spends 14 hours a week online, which is approximately the same amount of time they watch TV.
In 2005 TV advertising spending was close to $150 billion and over $17 billion was spent on online marketing in US alone. The innovative service developed by Mediox will create a new content delivery medium enabling companies to market to customers that are becoming increasingly immune to conventional advertising methods. With over 250 thousand fast food outlets in US and average American dining out 198 times a year, it is possible that advertising on multimedia fast food displays may become one of the most popular marketing vehicles.

“The market for multimedia advertising in fast food outlets is expected to reach $10 billion by 2012 and our goal is to provide restaurant chains with hardware and flexible content management system to generate additional revenue,” said Roman Kyrychinskiy, co-founder of Mediox. “Initially we are planning to launch this concept by offering fast food restaurant chains several rate plans including providing trays free of charge in exchange for a share in advertising and retail revenues,” he added.

The current version of the interactive multimedia fast food tray prototype featured at Wikipedia.org in “Restaurant Media” article, will be used for software development purposes and is currently being redesigned to facilitate for harsh usage conditions, intuitive interface and easy to use and durable control mechanism. The multimedia tray will allow visitors at fast food restaurants to watch live music broadcasts, movie previews, play games, check out nutritional information and much more. Soon fast food customers will be able to experience enjoy interactive entertainment right on their fast food trays.

“We are currently in a process of selecting a launch partner, an innovative restaurant chain willing to invest into our new technology, which offers exceptional ROI and takes customer experience to the next level. We’ve got a prototype, design concept, patents pending, manufacturing capacity and are ready to start working with a large fast food restaurant network,” said Alexander Zhavoronkov, company’s co-founder.

Many restaurant chains have already deployed digital signage solutions using flat panel displays. McDonalds' has a digital signage network running in most of its outlets across the Philippines which is powered by the Scala InfoChannel. Burger King Deutschland also uses Scala InfoChannel to equip its restaurants with plasma displays and interconnect its individual restaurants via a communications network. The technology also supports Burger King’s own TV channel, the "King Channel," and a digital menu board.

However, the feasibility study conducted by Mediox team demonstrated that using multimedia fast food displays is in many cases much cheaper than using flat panel displays. As well, one of the major disadvantages of current digital signage solutions is inability to quantify the number of customer exposures to advertisements. Mediox’s interactive multimedia food tray will not only ensure dedicated customer attention, but also provide detailed statistics on the number of ad exposures and click throughs. In addition to improving customer dining experience, fast food restaurant chains will be able to use electronic currency to sell goods and services to customers directly.

“Where digital signage stops and Mediox multimedia food tray takes off is customer tailored media programming,” says Roman Kyrychynskyi, also one of Mediox co-founders. He continues – “every customer gets their own food tray, with their own display & set of controls - they are truly in charge of their media experience.”

There is a good news not just for restaurant customer, but also or its operator. Promised technology will allow fast food chains to sell a lot more than just burgers & fries, it will allow them to tap into media sales, product sales, and improve customer loyalty.
