PURVIS Systems Implements Comprehensive Notification Solution for Providence Emergency Management Agency & Office of Homeland Security

Announcement of a custom notification solution developed by PURVIS Systems for the Providence Emergency Management Agency.

Middletown, RI, November 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- PURVIS Systems Incorporated, an IT systems and service provider for public safety, emergency management and defense industries, announced today that it implemented a multi faceted electronic notification solution for the Providence Emergency Management Agency & Office of Homeland Security (PEMA). The solution provides PEMA with PURVIS’ Electronic Notification System (ENS), along with a custom developed application that consolidates and simplifies access to other notification systems available to the City of Providence and used by the agency.

PURVIS ENS is a secure web-based notification system that distributes automated alerts and warnings through an intuitive web or telephone interface. Should an emergency situation occur, PEMA officials are able to create an alert and deliver it to multiple people with the push of a single button. Alerts are received in mere minutes via landline telephones, cell phones, emails, pagers, text messages, and RSS newsfeeds.

PURVIS also provided PEMA with a custom-built application that provides direct access to PURVIS ENS and other notification systems available to the City of Providence and used by PEMA. This new application is accessible within the agency’s incident management system used during daily operations and in emergency situations. It is designed to simplify and speed the process of transmitting important alerts and warnings through multiple systems. Message storage capabilities allow PEMA to create and maintain a library of important notifications that can quickly and easily be transmitted through the various systems used by the agency.

The Providence Emergency Management Agency is charged with protecting the community by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters. PEMA also manages the Greater Providence Metropolitan Medical Response System (GP-MMRS). The GP-MMRS directs communities to focus a strong medical response in the event of a terrorist attack or mass casualty incident.

“This new notification capability allows us to tie-in numerous MMRS stakeholders throughout the Providence metropolitan region in a logical streamlined system, allowing for rapid incident notification and updates,” said Peter T. Gaynor, Director Providence Emergency Management Agency.

“The Providence Emergency Management Agency continues to make significant advancements in implementing new technologies and adopting best practices that align with national standards,” said John Desposito, President of PURVIS Systems. “We are excited to provide PEMA with a solution that meets their needs and helps to streamline and enhance their communications capabilities in emergency situations.”
