Canidae Racing Returns from the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000

The Baja 1000 has claimed another victim and this time it is Canidae Racing's own #95 Trophy Truck. After a planned pit stop at race mile 134, the #95 truck was working well. At race mile 180, as the course turns south in San Felipe, driver Scott Whipple and co-driver Pat Gailey had placed the big Chevy into 12th place and only 16 minutes out of first place on corrected time.

San Luis Obispo, CA, November 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- This is an amazing feat considering they started in the 32nd position and the dusty, tight conditions of the first part of the race. Unexpectedly, at race mile 217, the heart of the Canidae Racing Trophy Truck gave out as #95 rolled to a stop along with the hopes and dreams of the team. The day was done and with it, the 2010 season. Luckily, the truck stopped next to a gracious family from the United States. They shared their fire with Whipple and Gailey, offered them water and kept them company.

Eventually, the truck and drivers were towed by a local man named Santine to Checkpoint 3. They were forced to stay without a bed, restroom or other amenities until around 10:30am on Friday when yet again they were rescued by two gracious families who towed the truck to their beach house. It was a cold night, but the drivers got through. Some other new friends made the weary drivers some bacon and eggs and gave them a cup of coffee. The chase crew finally showed up after nearly 24 hours of driving to get to the truck.

2010 was a great year for the Canidae Off Road Race Team in their first season in the Trophy Truck class. This is the premier class in all of off road racing and the team did an impressive job as they faced adversity throughout the year.
