Artificial Muscle’s Reflex Technology Brings Real Feel to Mobile Devices

Santa Clara, CA, December 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Even as more consumers reach for a touchscreen-enabled mobile device to keep in touch – the sensation of touch is often lost on their mobile device.

That is changing with the Electroactive Polymer Artificial Muscle (EPAM) actuator technology from Artificial Muscle, Inc. (AMI), a Bayer MaterialScience LLC company. AMI’s ReflexTM actuator technology enables high-fidelity touch feedback for touchscreens of mobile phones and other devices.

Dirk Schapeler, CEO, Artificial Muscle, Inc. will discuss the benefits of Reflex actuator technology at this year’s Printed Electronics USA 2010 Conference and Trade Show being held Nov. 30 – Dec. 2 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley. Schapeler is scheduled to present “High End Touch Feedback for Mobile Devices Featuring Electro Active Polymers” as part of the Touchscreen and Haptics program on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

This sensational technology comes as research analysts expect the touchscreen mobile device market to account for 58 percent of all mobile devices worldwide, and more than 80 percent in developed markets by 2013, according to Gartner research.

“With our Reflex actuator technology, high-fidelity touch feedback and complex haptic effects are possible for mobile devices and other electronic products to enhance user experience,” Schapeler said. “Whether it’s the feel of scrolling a menu or clicking a button, the Electro Active Polymer-based actuator technology provides a superior feel compared with existing technologies.”
