Aurangabad, India, February 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hazari Nursing Home organised its annual cataract surgery screening camp on the 10th of February. The camp was announced in local newspapers the previous day. There was very good response to the announcement. The camp was attended by about 70 people. It was organised for people from below the poverty line. All the patients were screened for the presence of cataracts. 34 people were found to have operable cataracts. They would undergo detailed evaluation in the coming week and then undergo surgery on the 23rd and 24th of Feb, 2011. All patients would undergo phacoemulsification with implantation of foldable intraocluar lens under topical anesthesia. The surgeries would be done completely free of cost for the patients.

The surgeries are being supported in part by donation from Endress+Hauser. In 2010 the first eye surgery camp was done at Hazari nursing Home with the help of Endress+Hauser in which 20 patients had undergone cataract surgery with phaco emulsification and foldable intraocular lens implantation. All surgeries will be done by Dr. Ajit Hazari with the Infiniti Phaco machine using Ozil technology.

On the occasion, Dr. Ajit Hazari said "With support from organisations like Endress+Hauser and other citizens of Aurangabad, we can take further bold steps in this direction and provide the advantage of high technology eyecare to people who would otherwise have not been able to avail of the technology and the skills."
