Dan Zanes has become a household name for many families with children. His music group, Dan Zanes and Friends, uses an array of folksy instruments, including an accordion, mandolin, guitar, and others, to get people in the mood to dance and sing along with the catchy, kid-friendly tunes. Mr. Zanes encourages people to share in the creation of music by playing familiar songs as well as those that have been long-forgotten, while adding his own personal flair to the mix. The music is made to entertain people of all ages and backgrounds, and often includes songs from other cultures and times in history.

His recent accomplishments include releasing his latest album, “76 Trombones,” which is a collection of classic Broadway tunes from Sir Paul McCartney’s MPL Music Publishing catalog. The album includes the talent of Tony Award winners Carol Channing, Matthew Broderick and Brian-Stokes Mitchell. He is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of his Festival Five Records label by touring and performing with young groups, particularly orchestras and African drum and dance ensembles.

Mr. Zanes’ seeks to introduce fellow musicians to neighbors by using music to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. His diverse repertoire has graced a number of prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall and the Melbourne International Arts Festival. Dan Zanes and Friends co-released the album “Catch That Train!” with Starbucks/Hearn Music, and won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children.
