Code Publishing Makes Splash with Rekindle

Code Publishing gives public domain works a modern feel and a new twist to lure readers.

Austin, TX, March 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In a unique move in the publishing industry, Code Publishing has launched an imprint dedicated to remakes of public domain works. With its first title, "Call Girl," (http://www.amazon.com/dp/b004tnh0rk) by author Payton Canard, Code Publishing plans on breaking all the rules and all the sales records for the company.

"The idea is simple," Canard said in an interview. "You take material that's in the public domain, which is free to use and abuse, and you give it a modern feel and new twists and voila, you have great new content."

Canard said that Code doesn't plan on remaking popular works such as "Pride and Prejudice" or "Dr. Frankenstein." Instead, they plan on cherry-picking good stories that are hardly known.

"The talent comes into play with the unique twists and endings we give the old books," Canard said. "For instance, 'Call Girl' was based on 'The Girl From Central' by Bonner, but you would never know it from the ending, which is completely different, and much better."

Readers seem to agree. According to a Code Publishing representative, "Call Girl" has been flying off the electronic shelves in its first few days after release.

Currently "Call Girl" is available in Amazon's Kindle format. Code Publishing plans on releasing a paperback version in May.
