Telepresence Provider BrightCom Adds International Language Support and More to Meeting Client

BrightCom announces several new features for their Visual Collaboration System client, including support of international languages and XML based Microsoft Office files. New features allow users to share and mark up files without additional software.

Orange County, CA, April 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- BrightCom, the performance leader in integrated telepresence and video conferencing solutions announced today several new additions and enhancements to the client interface of the Visual Collaboration System, the processor-based, software driven video conferencing infrastructure. New file sharing features include support for full legibility in files with international languages, XML- based Microsoft Office files, and enhanced Adobe PDF sharing. Other new enhancements include full synchronization with iCAL and Microsoft Outlook calendars and scheduling.

In a recently published two part technical demonstration video, BrightCom presents the VCS client, integrating HD video with interactive data collaboration allowing businesses to communicate face to face and at the same time cooperatively markup documents, spreadsheets, images, video clips and other important materials.

The first video demonstrates how participants can share files, and allow others to save files locally to their laptops or PC without interrupting the live video conference to email files. Users can drag and drop files native to their laptops on to the VCS client. From there the files are uploaded to the VCS server which then broadcasts the files to all other participants, rendering it locally to laptops or PCs minimizing the amount of required bandwidth.

BrightCom also shows how users can easily manage their file sharing during live conferences, dragging and dropping files and live video into tabs in different configurations that automatically adjust to the number of display screens available. VCS allows people without software applications like Microsoft Office or PDF viewers to view and interact with the data. For example users can move through slides (in the case of PowerPoint presentations), or pause and stop (in the case of video clips) without installing any additional software.

The second video displays the new international language support that VCS now features. The VCS server can render documents with multiple languages, locally to a participant's system without any additional software necessary to view the language characters.

Other new features of VCS client are pause and mute controls on the live video interface. The VCS allows up to 100 meeting participants per server and participants can choose 16 videos to display through the VCS client. Through visual toggles, participants can now choose to mute themselves or other people's live video.

Finally, the video demonstrates how the VCS Meeting Scheduler allows users to schedule instant or future meetings allowing users to create file bundles as well as send out meeting invitations via email. Users can configure their iCAL or Microsoft Outlook to connect to the VCS system to automatically populate business calendars with video conferencing meetings in their email systems.

In March, BrightCom announced several new features of the Visual Collaboration System including the cross connection with MCU based systems and enhanced support with standards based SIP clients including Cisco/Tandberg, and Polycom.
