Large Medical Practice Hires CrossRealms, Inc. to Rebuild Their Infrastructure and Security Systems

In the initial tests, the coverage area went from spotty and in excess of 1 disconnect every 5 minutes per Doctor to complete coverage across the entire space with no disconnects other than the existing application timers due to HIPAA compliance.

Chicago, IL, April 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- CrossRealms, Inc. was contracted to assess the current Infrastructure and security systems at a large medical practice. The assessment covered the Infrastructure, switching, and routing in addition to security, firewall configuration and Active Directory. The assessment was estimated at 100 consulting hours; however, CrossRealms, Inc.’s engineering staff completed it in 61 hours. The remaining hours were used to begin the process of rebuilding the Infrastructure in adherence with the best practices to improve the client’s experience and increase the availability and resiliency of the network.

CrossRealms, Inc. staff realized from the beginning that the client did not need a beefy Infrastructure because they had a centralized Citrix System in place. This system has a small footprint, from a network perspective, and utilizes less than 40Kb/sec per client from a data bandwidth perspective. Instead of the usual forklift upgrade of the existing old Infrastructure, the CrossRealms, Inc. team decided to remove the dependency on hard wires and build a state of the art wireless network that would allow the users complete mobility with zero dependence on physical wiring and switching. From a medical practice perspective, the enhanced mobility allows the doctors to move freely within the facility. In addition, the savings of being able to host the business in any location, without heavy Infrastructure build-out, saves more than 60% on the physical space and allows the practice to be hosted anywhere quickly.

The CrossRealms, Inc. team is currently building a dual core system in two physically separate locations and re-utilizing the existing wireless equipment by improving the configuration from a security perspective and increasing the coverage area by attaching higher gain antennas across the offices. In the initial tests, the coverage area went from spotty and in excess of 1 disconnect every 5 minutes per Doctor to complete coverage across the entire space with no disconnects other than the existing application timers due to HIPAA compliance. This project, which started off at an estimated cost of $380,000.00, will be completed for less than $120,000.00 and will allow better mobility, better service levels, and savings for years to come.
