DirectRooms.com highlights that close to one million people are expected to fill the streets of Cologne as the city stages one of the largest and most prominent gay events in Europe.
Cologne, Germany, May 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Cologne Pride will be welcoming gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals for a huge party to help build awareness and stand up for equal legal rights and social acceptance.
One of the event highlights will be the elaborate parade on the final day where over 100 floats will travel through the city to a form a colourful procession with performers dressed in bright costumes.
In the build up to the parade street festivals will consist of stages set up to offer platforms for everything from pop acts to politics. Leading bands and singers will be joined by comedians to keep the crowds entertained. International DJs will then provide the music at the dance arenas while the political stage will discuss legal issues and topical matters.
The whole event runs from 18th June to 3rd July 2011 and the programme will also feature activities such as film screenings, barbeques, seminars and several other parties. Saturday 2nd July presents a special candlelit vigil for people suffering with AIDS and HIV and for those that have lost lives which will end with a minute’s silence.
As the schedule will bring an influx of visitors cheap Cologne Airport hotels will be at a premium and places are due to become fully booked.
