)-- Novelist and short story writer Kelli Sue Landon announced today the release of Nightmare at Camp Forrestwood, A Young Adult Whodunit, published by Outskirts Press. Landon’s newest book is the suspense ridden tale of a young girl trying uncertainly to make her way as a new student in school when she suddenly finds herself pressed to stop a maniac from killing all her fellow Madison High classmates on their summer camping trip.
Holly Jensen is a new student at Madison High entering her senior year and she’s never felt so uncomfortable in her life. No one seems to like her. She hopes she’ll be able to break the ice with at least some of her classmates during the upcoming senior class camping trip. In fact, she hears that Mark Ifft, the hottest boy in school, will be there and she sets her sights on him. She’s already had a crush on him since day one.
The trip starts off as fun and Holly and classmate Mindy Janz move from being acquaintances to becoming fast friends. Then the phones at camp stop working, Tricia disappears and Holly suddenly knows that something has gone terribly wrong. Rhonda soon disappears as well.
There’s a killer among Holly’s classmates.
Holly wants to trap the killer before even more of her classmates die, and she concocts a plan to do so, but first she has to find someone she can really trust. Maybe she’ll be able to escape together with her -- or even him -- if the two of them live long enough.
Author Landon shows great insight into all the little moments of insecurity that a new student -- or even an old one -- has in high school, and with them she sets a pertinently anxious backdrop for the truly frightening events that follow as Holly tries to find new friends while trying to stop a high school killing spree.
