Second Annual HBCU Pro Combine to be Held in Virginia Beach

Greensboro, NC, November 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The 2nd Annual HBCU and Small College Pro Combine will be held on December 19, 2011 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Originally scheduled for May 21 & 22, 2011, the NFL sanctioned Pro Combine had to be rescheduled due to this year’s NFL lockout. As per rules and guidelines previously established for the Inaugural HBCU & Small College Combine, held in 2010, the event is by Invitation Only. (Please visit www.procombine.com for additional program details and contact information).

This year’s Director of Operations, Coach Alan Hooker of Greensboro, North Carolina says that he and his staff are ready to help these talented players “realize their dreams.” He added that he is excited by the caliber of talent that could attend this year and the professional scouts and managers are looking forward to seeing this exciting young talent, first hand. Hooker, a two time HBCU All-American at North Carolina State Agricultural & Technical University, broke 15 school records and he is still the school’s All-Time leading passer. He was signed out of college by the Dallas Cowboys. Hooker has obtained his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership & Policy and is an Ordained Minister at the Church of God in Christ. He is married to his wife Wendy and the father of three children (Nile, Hendon, and Alston). Coach Hooker believes that the 2nd Annual HBCU & Small College Pro Combine is a great opportunity for the attendees to show their talent in front of NFL scouts and managers.

All participants will receive athletic gear for Combine (on December 19) and practice jerseys for scrimmage (on December 20).

Invited players need to bring helmets, pads, white game pants and cleats for controlled scrimmage that will be played on Tuesday.

Events include the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, bench press, pull-ups, and agility drills. Athletes from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) hold dreams of going to schools that will allow them to get the maximum exposure and increase their chances of being drafted by the NFL. Ken Fiore, Director of Player Personnel, National Football League has also announced that “all 32 NFL Scouting Directors will be in attendance this May,” making the 2nd Annual HBCU Combine an exciting and worthwhile event for both HBCU players and NFL scouting directors.

Please Note: There are no fees charged for those players invited to the 2nd Annual HBCU & Small College Combine.

Co-founder of the event, Mark Bloomquist announced that the Holiday Inn and Convention Center (www.hivabeachnorfolk.com) would be the host hotel for this year’s event. Special rates are available for parents!
