Rob Lopez, Creator of Forsaken Stars, to Guest at Fresno Sci-Fi & Fantasy Writers’ Bookfest 2011

He Will Discuss His Current and Upcoming Works, the Comic Creators for Freedom, and Sell & Sign Prints and Sketch Vampires, Robots and Mermaids

Clovis, CA, November 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Rob Lopez, creator of the sci-fi horror and fantasy webcomic and blog Forsaken Stars (http://forsakenstars.com) is one of the featured guests at the First Annual Fresno Sci-Fi & Fantasy Writers BOOKFEST Saturday, December 17th, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm hosted by A Book Barn in Clovis.

The Book Barn is located at 640 Clovis Ave, Clovis, CA 93612, on the corner of Clovis Avenue and 7th Street in Old Town Clovis.

Lopez will be discussing his current and upcoming projects including his cover art and co-writing for the fantasy comic the Legend of the Knyghtmare. He will also discuss future issues of Forsaken Stars, "Solum [Perceptum]" a science-fiction short story and "The Beast of Woadsbury," an illustrated fantasy story for the FSFWs 2012 Anthology, as well as his upcoming participation in the Comic Creators for Freedom 2012 fund drive to fight Human Trafficking (http://comiccreatorsforfreedom.com). Lopez will be selling prints of his art, sketching his characters—which include vampires, robots and mermaids—and taking attendee requests. Some of his work will also be included in the event’s raffle which will include prizes such as books, gift certificates and art.

The Fresno Sci-Fi & Fantasy Writers—established at their first meeting April, 19th 2008—is a group for local writers that meet and discuss their work. They published their first anthology, “I Dreamed A Crooked Dream,” November 11, 2010. Lopez joined soon after, and says of the group, "their support, encouragement and critiques have been invaluable to my work." The FSFW is currently laying the groundwork for its 2012 Anthology and Lopez is excited about the project, admires his collaborators deeply and is thrilled to be counted as one of its passionate architects. About Rob Lopez:
Raised in the rural town of Orange Cove, Rob Lopez was influenced most by Star Wars, Spider-Man and X-Men comics, H.G. Wells and Isaac Asimov. While in high school he created the comic strip Nucleon for the Reedley Exponent, Foreign Affairs, an original play performed by his peers, and his short story Magdalaine was published in Symmetry, the Reedley College literary magazine. In his twenties Rob designed his own adventure games, performed community theater and worked as an office clerk at Pine Flat Ranger station. During his years as a computer and GED instructor he refined Spiral Legion, the sci-fi/horror roleplaying game he has developed over the last two decades. He has been an HR assistant, HR department supervisor and a retail store marketing specialist. In 2009, he created Forsaken Stars the comic and in 2010 he joined the Fresno Sci-Fi & Fantasy Writers.
