“We look forward to having Chris Moneymaker back in our poker room,” said Fred Buro, Presque Isle Downs and Casino President. “We believe he is a great ambassador of Poker for us as well as just an all around great guy.”

Moneymaker hosted a tournament during the Poker Rooms Grand Opening celebrations Oct. 14th and 15th.

"It was a pleasure having Chris Moneymaker here in October," said Christine Stacey, Poker Room Manager. “His presence made all the difference during our Grand Opening, and our player’s can’t wait for his return.”

Chris Moneymaker gained his legendary status by turning a $40 online buy in into $2.5 Million. He did this by winning the main event at the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP). His victory is said to have revolutionized poker because he was the first person to become a world champion by qualifying at an online poker site. This has been referred to in the press as the "Moneymaker Effect."

Moneymaker's ancestors made silver and gold coins and chose the name "Moneymaker" as a modification of their German last name: "Nurmacher."
