Pack up the Pooch; America’s Family Pet Expo Announces Fido Friday

This year, four-legged members of the family are invited to partake in the fun at the OC Fair and Event Center - Friday, April 20

Monrovia, CA, February 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- It will be a “dog day afternoon” – and morning – as for the first time ever, the America’s Family Pet Expo opens its’ doors to man’s best friend. For one day only, on Friday, April 20th from 10am to 6pm, dogs will be allowed inside designated locations of the expo area.

“We’re thrilled that the America’s Family Pet Expo can welcome in our four-legged friends,” said Doug Poindexter, President of the World Pet Association, producers of the America’s Family Pet Expo, April 20-22 at the OC Fair and Event Center. “By hosting these special members of the family, ‘Fido Friday’ adds a whole new dimension to the guest’s show experience. Now, everyone can enjoy themselves with their dog.”

For years, show producers have been receiving hundreds of phone calls and requests from guests wanting to bring their dogs. “The concept of bringing one’s dog was always a dream,” said Poindexter. “Through working with the proper authorities and experts to ensure a safe show experience for all our guests, this milestone opportunity has come to fruition – and we couldn’t be more pleased!”

Specific guidelines apply; including all dogs must be on a non-retractable leash, over 4-months of age, spayed or neutered, and non-aggressive in nature. All owners must abide by the “potty area” locations and bring their own bags to collect waste. There is a maximum of one-dog per adult, and its owner must be older than 18-years of age. Upon entering the Expo grounds, owners must sign a liability waiver issued from the America’s Family Pet Expo. Additional policies and tips are available for review at http://www.petexpooc.org/fido-friday.

In addition to “Fido Friday,” the America’s Family Pet Expo will feature more than 400 exhibitors and more than 1,000 various animals including dogs, birds, fish, cats, equine and reptiles. Just added, the Expo will also be selling and showcasing reptiles, another first for the 20-year show. Throughout the day, there will be animal entertainment, hands-on demonstrations, and informative educational sessions on pet care and the latest pet trends.

“’Fido Friday’ is the perfect day to come to the show, and really see first-hand how our exhibitors and programming benefits not only the owners, but the dogs themselves,” said Poindexter. “Grab your camera, pack some doggie snacks and bring plenty of water. Get ready for a day of fun… with your best friend by your side!”
