Bryce Cullen Publishing Releases Trader-Turned-Author Patrick J. Ouellette’s Debut Novel, A Cop Story

Gritty serial killer thriller pays homage to pre-Y2K crime fighting.

Alpine, NJ, April 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Patrick J. Ouellette grew up in a small town in Maine. Originally enrolled in a criminology program at Northeastern University, he switched to economics and worked on Wall Street for more than a dozen years before moving back to Maine, where he started penning his debut crime thriller, A Cop Story. With writing and law enforcement—especially NYC detectives, the FBI, and the CIA—always a passion, the two formed the perfect synergy for Ouellette’s psychological page-turner.

Set in the mid-nineties, A Cop Story shines with respect to its portrayal of the pre-Y2K detective era, where hard work, decision-making ability, a gun, and a car were a detective’s main resources. With no modern-day technology, much less a cell phone, the protagonist must step into the mind of a psychotic killer with maternal issues and an inconsistent MO.

Major inspiration for Ouellete’s work came from five other works he considers to be the best portrayal of the pre-Y2K detective: The French Connection, Nighthawks, Manhunter, The Silence of the Lambs, and Zodiac. A Cop Story carves a gritty, relentless pursuit of justice and is a pulse-pounding, electric tour de force right until the very end, when shocking secrets are finally revealed. Just released by Bryce Cullen Publishing, A Cop Story is available to order from all major booksellers.
